AC
Lamplight to perform Southwest Premiere of The
Christmas Doll
The public is
encouraged to see members of the AC Lamplight Youth Theatre Company perform the
Southwest Premiere of The Christmas
Doll by Joan Cushing on Nov 21-23, 2008. Performance times are Nov 21-22 at 7:30 pm, and Nov 22-23 at
2:30 pm.
This is an amazing
dramatic musical with a wonderful message of courage and hope.
The story, set in London in the 1840’s, centers around 2 young orphaned
sisters. Lucy and Glory escape the
orphanage and live on the mean streets of London, meeting many colorful
characters along the way. Now that
they are no longer in the orphanage, they must learn to survive on their own. Teaming up with another street urchin by the name of Nick
Button, the three embark on a journey that will change their lives forever.
The outcome of the story is one that will fill your heart with a
wonderful sense of love and contentment.
54 young people from
ages 7 to 18 will be bringing this new musical to the stage.
The play has been double-cast, allowing twice as many children the
opportunity to appear onstage. Most
of the actors play 3-5 characters each. “This
is a chance for Amarillo to see just how talented these young actors are,”
said Cynthia Koetting, Lamplight director.
In addition to the
54 actors, a crew of 12 Lamplight Students will be working backstage to insure
that all of the set and prop pieces are ready and in place on time.
The crew will be challenged daily as the set changes must happen quickly.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the AC
Lamplight Youth Theatre at 806-371-5353. Ticket
prices are $10 adults, $8 college/senior citizens, $5 children.
