Summer Camp – A Year with Frog & Toad KIDS 

Broadway Theatre Arts Academy is conducting a summer theatre workshop for A Year with Frog and Toad KIDS from July 20-31 at the Kit Carson Park Amphitheatre.  The camp will run Monday – Friday from 8:30-12:30.  A showcase performance with be held July 31 & August 1 as a pre-show to the Seussical Jr. performance on those evenings.  Seussical Jr. is part our “Plays in the Park” series performed at the Kit Carson Park Amphitheatre in Escondido.

Actors aged five to twelve are encouraged to participate in this special workshop production.  Young actors will learn the craft of acting in a safe and non-threatening atmosphere.  They will learn how to express themselves in a positive manner both individually and as a group.  Appropriate for beginners as well as advanced young actors, students will learn all that goes into creating a memorable character from the audition to the performance in a fun camp setting!

About the Show

Arnold Lobel's well-loved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Willie Reale's musical A Year With Frog And Toad KIDS.  Remaining true to the spirit of the original stories it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.

The music bubbles with melody and wit, its jazzy upbeat sound is a perfect match for the hopping, crawling and flying denizens that inhabit Frog and Toad's world. It’s clever book and lyrics and snazzy music is a great introduction to theatre for youngsters (and parents will love it too)!  A Year With Frog And Toad KIDS is inventive, exuberant and totally enchanting.
