GREASE
IS THE WORD AT CANYON CREST ACADEMY!
Canyon Crest Academy will
present GREASE, The Musical over two
weekends this March in its beautiful proscenium theatre. Set in the Fifties, Grease
tells the timeless love story of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, two kids
from very different cliques. With
such classics as “Summer Nights,” “Look
at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “We
Go Together,” and “Beauty School Dropout,” Grease
is filled with nonstop dancing and fun.
And with Grease currently
experiencing yet another revival on Broadway, there is no better time to see it
and join in that fun.
Grease is directed by CCA
theatre instructor Jeannine Marquie, a successful local actor whose most recent
starring role was in “Rhubarb” with Moxie Theatre.
The musical director is Cory Hibbs, the 2007 ASCAP Morton Gould Young
Composer’s Award recipient. The choreographer is Liv Issaacs, member of the San Diego
Dance Theatre. Grease features the talents of the following CCA students: Ashley
Abed, Andrew Abrams, Leandra Baldwin, Staley Carter, Caitlin Curl, Carmen
Dutton, Tiffany Gaines, Wyatt Gastil, Justin Gleiberman, Matt Herman, Zoe Katz,
Kelsey Knox, Alex Lopez, Briana McCloskey, Evan McCree, Torrey Mercer, Spencer
Meredith, Cindy Mersten, Estevan Montemayor, Connor Murphy, Jake Picker, Izzy
Pollak, James Pratt, Ryan Sandrew and Austin Wermers. The assistant director is student Dan Kohler.
The stage manager is student Kyle Pollitt, assisted by Carina Simantob
and Olivia Olmstead.
Canyon Crest Academy is located at 5951 Village Center Loop Road in San
Diego. Shows are as follows:
Friday, March 14th and Saturday, March 15th at 7:00
p.m.; Thursday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, March 21st
at 4:00 p.m.; and Saturday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors, and $6.00 for
students. Tickets may be purchased
