THE
KING STAG
Its fairy tales
and Italian feasts at Canyon Crest Academy this March as THE KING STAG runs
March 20 through 28, 2009, with a special “ Night in Serendippo” Italian
dinner on March 26! Directed
by CCA’s very own Michael Schwartz, and featuring original music by senior
Katie Balch, this fun and fantastical production includes shadow, hand and
life-sized puppets, a whimsical set, a life sized bear and parrot, a live band
playing Balch’s original music, and masked characters inspired by the commedia
dell’arte art form. You won’t want to miss this breakthrough production!
THE KING STAG tells the story of King
Deramo (Ryan Sandrew) of the Kingdom of Serendippo who is searching for the love
of his life. When he finally finds
her, he is double-crossed by his best friend and servant Tartaglia (Cory Gordon)
who uses the King’s own magic spell to take over his body and steal both the
kingdom and his new wife, Angela (Aryn Wuthrich). THE KING STAG also features the talents of the following
CCA Students: Katherine Bazan,
Haley Carlborg, Lily Detwiler, Chelsea Fryer, Angela Han, Kyle Koerber, Jeffrey
Lorenzen, Austin Meredith, Connor Murphy, Arturo Ortega, James Perkins, Izzy
Pollak, Nick Scutti, Kaleigh Stegman, and Taylor Strumwasser.
On March 26, 2009, theatergoers
can enjoy a special treat, as the Canyon Crest Academy Envision Theater Club
will host “A Night in Serendippo,” an Italian dinner event at 5:30 p.m. in
the CCA Amphitheatre just before the 7 p.m. show. Dinners include pasta with meatballs and sauce, salad,
breadsticks, and a drink. Student dinners are $10 and adult dinners are
$15.Tickets must be purchased by March 24th. NO TICKETS FOR THE DINNER WILL BE
SOLD AT THE DOOR AND TICKETS FOR THE PERFORMANCE MUST BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY.
All proceeds will benefit all Envision Guests Artists.
THE KING STAG
is a CCA Envision Theatre production, a unique, award-winning
arts program which enriches the lives of all CCA students through a wide variety
of classes -- both during and after school -- through opportunities for
exploration and interaction with teaching artists in their chosen fields of
study. All proceeds from
Envision Theatre shows will support
the Envision Theatre program. Envision
