Children’s
Theatre Production Sheds Light on “The Secret Life of Girls”
Children’s
Theatre of Charlotte presents “The Secret Life of Girls”, a realistic
portrayal of the destructive effects of bullying among teenage girls from Mar.
27 - Apr. 5 in the Wachovia Playhouse at ImaginOn.
“The
Secret Life of Girls” focuses on the shifting alliances and betrayals among a
group of teens who play on the women’s volleyball team at their high school.
Playwright Linda Daugherty conducted extensive interviews with teenage girls who
bully and are bullied in order to create this important work. “The Secret Life
of Girls” takes a closer look at the use of cell phones, text and instant
messaging, e-mail and chat rooms in bullying behavior, also called cyberbullying.
Directed
by Nicia Carla, “The Secret Life of Girls” is performed by a cast of seven
talented high school students, along with adult actors Donna Scott and Rebecca
Koon. Post-performance talkbacks with the cast and some area professionals will
provide opportunities for dialogue about this sensitive issue.
All
seats are $10.
