Children’s
Theatre Production “
Alice
in Concert” Takes a Musical Trip to Wonderland
This
April, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will take a tuneful trip to Wonderland
with “
Alice
in Concert” (Apr. 17 - May 3). This charming, imaginative musical
retells the adventures of Lewis Carroll’s child heroine from the classics “
Alice
’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass.”
In
“
Alice
in Concert”, Tony-nominated playwright and composer Elizabeth
Swados follows
Alice
down the rabbit hole and into the topsy-turvy world of Wonderland. There
Alice
encounters some of the most memorable creations in children’s literature,
including the perpetually-in-a-hurry White Rabbit, the tea-loving Mad Hatter and
the mysterious Cheshire Cat. With catchy songs ranging from country-western to
calypso and witty lyrics, these quirky creatures teach Alice and the audience
numerous lessons in the oddest of ways.
Lewis
Carroll’s beloved characters are brought to life by a talented ensemble of
professional actors, including Ashley Bradley as
Alice
in her Children’s Theatre debut. Artistic Director Alan Poindexter directs
the ten-person cast, which also includes Caroline Bower, Nicia Carla, Jon Parker
Douglas, Steven Ivey, Robbie Jaeger, Ericka Ross, Mark Sutton, Amy Van Looy and
Barbi Van Schaick.
