Children’s
Theatre of Charlotte Brings Classic Book “Goodnight Moon” to Life on Stage
Children’s
Theatre of Charlotte presents “Goodnight Moon”, an adaptation of Margaret
Wise Brown’s beloved bedtime classic, in the McColl Family Theatre at ImaginOn
from April 16-May 9. Chad Henry’s charming musical tells the story of young
Bunny, who, despite the fact that it is past his bedtime, wants to stay awake
and enjoy all the wonders that his imagination has to offer.
The
production brings the book’s visual riches to life with an infusion of upbeat
music, singing, dancing and theatre magic. This adaptation by Chad Henry expands
on the source material by giving voice and character to the different objects in
the Great Green Room, but maintains the gentle feel of the beloved book. The old
lady whispering “hush”, the cow jumping over the moon and the red balloon
all make appearances, along with a few surprise characters from the world of
bedtime stories.
The cast of
professional actors includes Ashby Blakely, Jenny Chen, Karen Christensen, Jon
Parker Douglas, Matt Keffer, Tanya McClellan and Mark Sutton. “Goodnight
Moon” is directed by Ron Chisholm.
