Little
Women The Musical
San
Diego -- Christian Youth Theater (CYT) students from San Diego East County
present an original production of Little
Women The Musical at Crawford High School Performing Arts Center, February
25 - March 6.
In 1868, in response to a publisher’s request for a “girls’
book,” a struggling young writer named Louisa May Alcott drew upon the memory
of her own family to produce Little
Women. Never before had a novel explored the trials and tribulations in
a coming of age story from a girl’s point of view. The book has been cherished
by young and old ever since and became an instant classic novel for American
literature. Little
Women, The Musical, an
original CYT production, brings to life the characters of the March family.
The growing pains of Jo, Meg, Amy and Beth March come to life on the
stage as each sister explores her own dreams, desires, and fears.
The cast of 67 includes
Donna Louden of Ramona as Marmie, the loving matriarch of the March
family. Others include two young Santee women, Elizabeth Phalan as the sensible
oldest sister Meg and Alli Faucher as the prim and proper young Amy.
Courtney Evans from El Cajon plays the headstrong, outspoken Jo. Cassie
Bowerman from La Mesa plays the quiet, loving sister, Beth. Katleyn
Bruggema of El Cajon will portray the older Amy, grown-up and married.
Marshall Hattersley of Lakeside will be John Brook. Tim Manns of El Cajon
is Professor Bauer, Jo's German friend from New York. Amanda Gamble of El
Cajon will play the acerbic old Aunt March. Additional students work on
the technical aspects of the show as backstage crew, lighting and sound
technicians and assist as ushers
