Come
with us to Terabithia!
Christian
Youth Theater (CYT) students will present Bridge
to Terabithia, May 12 through 20 at the El Camino High School Truax Center in
Oceanside.
Bridge
to Terabithia is a musical
adaptation of Katherine Patterson’s Newbery Award winning children’s book.
This heartwarming play explores the adolescent years of Jesse Aarons as he grows
up in rural Virginia and encounters Leslie Burke, an imaginative girl who
recently moved from the city. Together
they deal with the struggles of growing up, facing bullies, and being
misunderstood by adults by escaping to their imaginary world of Terabithia,
where they rule as king and queen. When tragedy strikes, not even the confines
of Terabithia can keep Jesse from learning what it means to lose a friend, and
the healing power of love.
The
cast includes local actors Taylor Wuthrich
of Carlsbad (Jesse Aarons), Melanie Tierce of Murrieta (Leslie Burke), Caitlin Allen of Aguanga (Miss Edmunds), Cailey Whittaker of Carlsbad (Mrs. Aarons), Bradley Allen of Aguanga (Mr. Aarons), Katelyn Park of San Marcos (Ellie Aarons), and Melissa
Peltz of Encinitas (Brenda Aarons).
