Presents

Linda Daugherty’s
EAT (It’s NOT About Food)
A World Premiere
Studio Theater, Rosewood Center for Family Arts

APRIL 11 – MAY 11, 2008

Enjoyed by teens and adults – mature subject matter and language.

This powerful new play by award-winning playwright Linda Daugherty, who brought us “The Secret Life of Girls”, examines the dangerous and baffling world of eating disorders in girls and boys. Using interwoven vignettes, ranging from realistic to satirical to humorous, EAT candidly explores causes and warning signs, takes a hard look at the influences of society and the media, and tells individual stories of young people struggling with this epidemic and too often tragic problem.

DCT collaborates with professional, esteemed specialists from Girls to Women Health and Wellness, The Elisa Project, Children’s Medical Center and several other organizations to craft a poignant and guided post-show discussion so audiences will leave the theater feeling educated and empowered.

“This exceptional play will forever change the way you look at the world of Eating Disorders and those who struggle to regain control of their lives.”
~Dr. Elizabeth Hughes, Executive Director, The Elisa Project, a non-profit organization that promotes healthy living and awareness of the signs of disordered eating through educational programs and resources.

“This show is a wake up call.  Our need to eat sustains us.  Our response to that need may kill us.  EAT will motivate individuals to do things differently in their own lives.  Hopefully, it will motivate a nation to stand up and make real changes on behalf of our kids.”
~Susan Sugarman, MD, MPH, FAAP, FSAM Girls to Women Health and Wellness, PA.  Dr. Sugarman is co-founder of Girls to Women Health and Wellness, PA, a multidisciplinary medical practice in North Dallas dedicated to the physical and emotional well-being of adolescent and young adult women.
