25TH ANNIVERSARY BIRTHDAY PARTY
LIGHTING UP THE STAGE FOR 25 YEARS

Dallas Children’s Theater (DCT) presents a birthday bash on Saturday, May
16, 2009 from 10am – 2pm to celebrate 25 remarkable years of family theater in
Dallas. Rosewood Center for Family Arts will be open to the public and
ablaze with creative projects, performance, cakewalks and fun for the whole
community.
Headlining the weekend are two special evening concert performances by Trout
Fishing in America, the long-standing musical partnership of Keigh Grimwood
and Ezra Idlet. Their infectious mix of folk/pop and family music is
tempered by the diverse influences of reggae, latin, blues, jazz and classical
music. Their recordings have garnered three National Indie Awards and
multiple Parents Choice Gold and American Library Awards as well as 4 Grammy
nominations.
During the party on Saturday from 10am – 2pm, DCT will feature workshops, arts
and crafts, puppet-making, door prizes, raffle items, performances by DCT’s
Teen Conservatory Improv troupe, food, cakewalks, and a special birthday
cake-cutting ceremony. Adding to the excitement will be a live radio
remote with DCT’s season sponsor, 103.7 lite fm. Kids of all ages will
be invited to commemorate DCT’s silver anniversary by creating a painted tile
to be permanently displayed at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts. Everyone is
invited to explore the senses through hands-on arts activities coordinated by
the Baker Idea Institute. Members of Trout Fishing in America will
present an exclusive song-writing workshop for grades 3 and up (seating
limited). The birthday party is free to the public; however, certain events
require reservations, a ticket price or a modest fee.
