Scottsdale, Ariz. (August 7, 2012) – Charging the Children’s Theatre with cheerful songs and an encouraging tale, Desert Stages Theatre presents High School Musical Jr. Fri., Aug 24 — Sun., Sept. 23.

High School Musical Jr. illuminates the narrative of two students of contrasting backgrounds who discover young love amidst common obstacles and norms of high school.

The Disney Channel smash hit features popular songs “Get'cha Head In The Game," “What I've Been Looking For," and “We're All In This Together."

Described as a modern-day adaption of Romeo and Juliet, High School Musical debuted as a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2006. The film won numerous awards including a Billboard Musical Award for Soundtrack Album of the Year, two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Children’s Program and two Teen Choice Awards for star Zac Efron as Television’s Choice Breakout Star and Efron and co-star Vanessa Hudgens as Television’s Choice Chemistry. Featuring other teen stars such as Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu, High School Musical is the most successful Disney Channel Original Movie.

About Desert Stages Theatre. A bustling community playhouse, Desert Stages Theatre in Scottsdale, Ariz., is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3, founded in 1995, and presents more than 400 performances every season, from August to July. Three show schedules occur throughout the year: Actor’s Café performances in the intimate, proscenium-style 65-seat theatre; the Mainstage Series in Cullity Hall, an inventive theatre-in-the-round; and the Children’s Theatre Series, also performed in Mainstage Cullity Hall. DST also operates a theatrical academy, regularly hosts talent shows (“Show Your Stuff”), and offers a variety of music, dance and other classes open to the community.
