"Fame!
I'm gonna live forever." If
you were born before 1980, chances are you're familiar with these lyrics. FAME
is a classic of cinema, television and musical theatre. The movie, released in
1980, won an Academy Award and swept the world. The TV show ran for six
seasons, won numerous Emmy Awards and was broadcast in over 70 countries.
FAME - The Musical ran for
a decade on London’s West End and has been seen by over 10 million
worldwide. And just a few months
ago, another Fame movie hit the silver screen.
Now, Fame is coming to the
Mission Theatre stage in Fallbrook, March 12th – 21st.
In a classic “life imitating art” situation, many of the talented
actors in Fallbrook Players’ production of Fame are, in essence, playing
themselves. “Many
of these actors are hoping to pursue the performing arts in college and
beyond, and some are undergoing the audition process of a performing arts high
school in Orange County right now,” said Jane Stimmel, producer for
Fallbrook Players’ production of Fame.
“This is some serious talent that has gathered from all over
North County and Riverside County. The
audience will walk away from this production in awe of what these performers
are capable of,” she added.
Tickets
are available on-line at www.FallbrookPlayers.com
and at the Mission Theatre Box Office, or by calling 760-731-2278. “Not only
has the interest in this show been enormous amongst teens, but also with the
older generation who grew up with FAME. We
are suggesting that patrons purchase their tickets early as Fame is only
playing for two weekends and we do not want the tickets to be sold out for
people who really want to see this show," Stimmel said. "So
many people were unable to get a ticket for CATS and we anticipate the
same type of response for Fame,” she added.
