Presents Disney’s MULAN, This
time, the princess saves the prince… LA
JOLLA, CA – The award-winning J*Company Youth Theatre, a program of the San
Diego Center for Jewish Culture at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center,
JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, is pleased to announce its production of Disney’s MULAN.
Performances run September 17 – October 2, 2011 at the David and
Dorothea Garfield Theatre.
A
cast of 83 will tell this Chinese fable full of daring action and hilarious
characters, Fa Mulan, the only daughter of an aged warrior, challenges
society’s expectations by taking her father's place —stealing her father’s
conscription notice, cutting her hair, and impersonating a man to join the army
countering a Hun invasion. Along with her guardian a dragon, a lucky cricket,
assorted other companions, and some beautiful songs including “Reflection”,
“I’ll Make a Man Out of You” and “A Girl Worth Fighting For”, she soon
faces the Huns eye-to eye to protect her Emperor and becomes one of J*Company
Artistic Director, and Broadway Veteran, Joey Landwehr will be directing the
production showcasing some stunning artistic vision. Landwehr
has worked extensively as an actor and director in J*Company
Youth Theatre is the leading youth theatre program in San Diego, garnering local
and national attention with its award winning productions as well as providing a
foundation for young artists to train and develop their creative potential,
giving them the opportunity to express themselves through the dramatic arts. Heading
