LA JOLLA, March 23, 2014 – The JCompany Youth Theatre presents their final show of the season, Disney’s Tarzan directed by Joey Landwehr. Music and Lyrics by Phil Collins and Book by David Henry Hwang.  Mr.Landwehr has cast Hannah Houts as Jane and Joshua Shtein as Tarzan in their final show with the JCompany. It’s only fitting that they should be paired to play the leads in Disney’s TARZAN.  In 2007, when they were 10 years old, Ms. Houts played Ashanti and Mr. Shtein was Mowgli in Disney’s THE JUNGLE BOOK for the JCompany.  Now, seven years later, they will co-star in Disney’s TARZAN.  Both actors have been in approximately 23 shows with the JCompany, and feel the JCompany has been a family and second home to them. Houts and Shtein plan to continue their acting pursuits in college next year. Shtein says, “Director Joey Landwehr has been a great friend and mentor over the years.” Mr. Landwehr wishes them all the success in their endeavors.

Disney’s TARZAN is based on the classic Edgar Rice Burrough's Tarzan of the Apes and the smash-hit 1999 Disney animated film, TARZAN tells the story of an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa. Taken in and raised by a tribe of gorillas, the young boy strives for acceptance by his ape father while grappling with his uniqueness. When a human expedition enters their territory, Tarzan - now a man - encounters strangers like himself for the first time. Disney’s TARZAN features music and lyrics by pop icon Phil Collins, including “Two Worlds, One Family”, “Strangers Like Me”, “Son Of Man”, “Trashin’ The Camp” and the Grammy and Oscar winning song, "You'll be in My Heart". A MUST EXPERIENCE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY, swinging onto the JCompany stage!
