The Magik Theatre gives Dicken’s “ghostly little book”
a makeover this Christmas Season
San Antonio, TX--- The miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, the good-hearted Tiny Tim, and the mysterious Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and
Christmas Yet to Come of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol are given new life at the Magik Theatre this Holiday Season. Based on the
traditional Dickens classic, “Young Mr. Scrooge” is written and directed by Magik’s Executive Director, Richard Rosen and presented by the Magik
Theatre’s repratory theatre company. The story is told through the antics of a 5th grade class from Crockett Elementary rehearsing “Young
Mr. Scrooge” as a play for the King William Fair. Brimming with traditional Christmas carols amidst Magik originals, this musical
follows Ebenezer Scrooge (played by David Cortez) on his whirlwind journey back in time to his early days growing up in the King William
Neighborhood of San Antonio- the largest city in Texas at the turn-of-the-century. Incorporating good ole Texas history with a moral
as big as the heart of Texas, “Young Mr. Scrooge” is a welcome break from the ordinary for the entire family. So don’t be a SCROOGE this
Christmas. Stop your Bah Humbugs! and join the Magik Theatre for an original holiday wonder that celebrates the holiday season in a unique
and special way.
