Theatre of Anthem Announces the World Premiere of
Something
Beautiful, A Spider's Tale
Anthem, Ariz.
October 25, 2012
– Musical Theatre of Anthem (MTA) brings to stage for the first time the World
Premiere musical production of Something
Beautiful, A Spider's Tale,
written and composed by Janice Maruca and Joe Bousard.
Something Beautiful, presented
November 29 – December 2 in Anthem, tells the story of Stella the spider who
is tired of her ordinary life, and wants to be a honeybee. “A dream come true is what I'm feeling,” said Joe Bousard,
director and music director. “Something
Beautiful was composed and written many years ago, and has been waiting in
my 'trunk' for the right time and the right place.
I am so impressed with the young performers and their dedication, and the
feelings of belonging to something like MTA and the way it is run and functions
as a team and as a family. Something Beautiful is about faith, belief and creativity, and to
see it come alive with children will fulfill my dream. My only regret is that my
collaborator, Janice Maruca, is no longer with us, but I think she is looking
down, smiling.” Joe
is joined by assistant director and choreographer
Shana Rebilas-Bousard and production assistant
Sarah Brayer. Lorraine
Bousard designed and created the costumes for the cast of 21.

Seniors and Children 12 and under are $15. The World Premiere
musical of Something Beautiful, A Spider's
Tale by Janice Maruca and Joe Bousard, tells the story of Stella, the
Spider---who wants to be a Honeybee. She’s
tired of spinning and living the life of an ordinary spider and wants to live in
the ‘magic’ of the hive with all the Honeybees. Her
Mother wants her to settle down and marry Ronald, the ‘normal’ Spider, but
she does not want things as they are, and he does. So she runs off, but finds
living in the hive impossible….Searches for Inspiration from the local Praying
Mantis, and gets lost for a while, until she finds Harry, the Wasp.
She makes him a new wing after his fight with the Dragonfly, and he can
fly faster and stronger than before. And they fall in love and run off to create
a new species, and ‘something beautiful’---perhaps spinning something as
magnificent as the George Washington Bridge! About MTA Musical Theatre of Anthem (MTA) is an award-winning,
