Musical Theatre of Anthem Makes a Splash with Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr.  

Anthem, Ariz.  April 20, 2013 – Musical Theatre of Anthem (MTA) brings to stage Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr., based on one of the most celebrated animated films of all time, and adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production.  Join Ariel, Sebastian, Prince Eric and all your favorite characters as MTA travels "Under the Sea" for this sparkling musical which runs May 30 – June 9 in Anthem.

In a magical kingdom fathoms below, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, and convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl with the enchanting voice.  Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. features the hit songs "Part of Your World," "She’s in Love," and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea."

The award-winning cast is comprised of 100 youth, ages 6-18, from around the Valley.  The show is double-cast, with each cast performing seven shows each. “Our incredibly talented cast brings to life the story you will fall in love with all over again, with all your favorite songs along with some new ones," said Jackie Hammond, Vocal Director and MTA Producing Artistic Director.  Along with Hammond, the ariZoni award-winning production staff includes Director Laura O’Meara and Choreographer Sherry Henderson.  Assistant to the vocal director is Ginette Rossi and production assistant is Sarah Brayer.  

Performances take place May 30 – June 9; Thursday’s and Friday’s at 7:00 p.m., Saturday’s at 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday’s at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.at MTA’s performance space, 42323 N. Vision Way, Bldg. 2, Anthem, AZ  85086.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.musicaltheatreofanthem.org.  Adult tickets are $18 and Students, Seniors and Children 12 and under are $15.  And join Ariel and friends for cookies and juice at 2:00 p.m. on June 1 and 8 for just $10 per child.  Patrons have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos with cast members in the auditorium.  

With lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, music by Alan Menken, and book by Doug Wright, Little Mermaid Jr. is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker and Ron Clements.
