The Theatre School @ North Coast Repertory Theatre fifth annual student written and directed one act plays will make its world premiere beginning February 11, 2005. Written by Elyse Cowles of Solana Beach, Shauna Peterson of Rancho Santa Fe and Alicia Hefner of Solana Beach.

The Fifth Annual Student-Written, Student-Directed Plays gives NCRT Theatre School students an opportunity to dramatize timeless questions through the lens of their era.  Joe Powers, Director of the Theatre School and Educational Outreach is ?inspired to see these young thespians take the theatrical process one step further by creating the words themselves.  These plays once again give me faith in the future of our art form.? Here are the plays that will debut on February 11, 2005.

Election
by Elyse Cowles
This fresh satire based on Charles Dickens? A Christmas Carol explores the past, present, and future of American politics with the assistance of a dead First Lady.  Her visit will cast a fresh light on what it means to be an American, the importance of each person as an individual . . . and the importance of a single vote.

The Azure Key
by Shauna Peterson
AzureVanguard, is just one girl in a long line of Vanguards, gatekeepers of the mysterious Gate for over a century. With the continued arrival of travelers who wish to immigrate to the region beyond the Gate and the increasingly oppressive surveillance of the Policy?s Inspector, Azure begins to question her role as gatekeeper. For the first time in her life she also begins to question the Inspector himself and the Policy?s authority.

A Comfortable Kind of Love
by Alicia Heffner
A Comfortable Kind of Love, loosely based upon real-life perfect heartbreaks, illustrates the painfully-beautiful, simply-complicated emotion that is Love. Seen through a series of flashbacks between two life-long neighbors, the value of relationships?no matter what the cost to the heart or soul?is   undeniably infinite, as every love story will eventually find its ?happy ending.? Just keep looking.

A Poetry Moment: Original poems read by the young poets of The Theatre School will also be presented as part of the one act play events.

The one acts will perform Friday and Saturday @ 7pm, Saturday and Sunday @ 2pm February 11 through 13. Tickets range from $7 to $9.
