ONE ACT PLAYS

@ North Coast Repertory Theatre will present student-written, student-directed
One Acts, June 4-6 at 7 p.m.
Three
young playwrights will share their ideas on dealing with relationships, societal
issues, ethics and laughter in three original plays.
“I
am always astounded by the insight and depth in the thinking of young people
today,” says Joe Powers, Director of the
Theatre
School
and Educational Outreach. “Each of these plays shows the students’ own
voice and their strong convictions.”
The
Test, by Garrett Peterson of Rancho Santa Fe, is a play about
ethics and cheating on a test. When several classmates are caught cheating on a
test and all are held accountable, what is the right thing to do? Cast and crew

The
Jolly Pocket Postman by Allan Ahlberg, was adapted for the
stage by Eilee Bissell of Leucadia from the popular children’s book of the
same name. It is a wacky wonderful spoof on fairy tales. Cast and crew include

Lockdown,
by
Solana
Beach
resident Victoria Buchholz, tells the story of five students stuck together in
a poetry class in a school lockdown.
They soon learn it is not a drill and that there is a man with a
gun on the high school campus. Many of the students in the room have a
strained relationship with one another and each gives their own insight about
the other members trapped in the room
and the goings on in today’s frantic world. Cast
and crew include Sara Epstein of Rancho Santa Fe, Melanie Kaplanek of Carlsbad,
Monica Wall of San Diego, Robyn Manion of San Diego, Remy Remigio of San Diego,
Austin Evans of Carmel Valley, James Patterson of Del Mar and Sophie Adame of
Cardiff.
