THEATRE SCHOOL @ NORTH COAST REP 
ANNOUNCES 2007/2008 SEASON SCHEDULE
 

Each season the Theatre School @ North Coast Rep produces four productions designed for young audiences and families. The school also offers several informative, educational and enjoyable courses for students to enhance their knowledge of the theatre and allow them to grow artistically.

Below is a listing and description of the class and production schedule for the 2007/2008 season:  

Class Schedule:

Drama Class Sessions are held on Saturdays

Fall Session: September 29 – November 17, 2007

Winter Session: January 26 – March 15, 2008

Spring Session: April 12 – May 31, 2008

Session fee: $175*

*Scholarships Available  

Class Descriptions

Creative Drama

9:40 a.m.-11:00 a.m. (3rd through 5th grades)

Develop, explore, and communicate ideas and feelings through improvisational play. This class builds sensory perception and self-confidence via voice, language, movement, and the imagination explored while working through a common story.  

Acting for the Stage

11:20 a.m. -12:40 p.m. (Middle and High School)

Learn acting techniques, character study, script analysis, and physical/vocal development.

Memorization is required.  

Elements: Musical Expression, Voice, Movement and Speech

Saturday 1:10 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Ages 12 through 18)

This workshop focuses on the understanding and implementation of elemental techniques in regards to the actor's voice, body, speech and music on stage. This class is designed to further develop the actor as a whole strengthening their command of language and physical awareness.  

*Advanced Acting

2:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.

The class concentrates on scene work and the rehearsal process, and is not performance-oriented. Focus is on characterization, script analysis, and physical/vocal development.

Memorization is required.

*Admittance is by graduation from previous Theatre School classes and audition

The Prince and the Pauper

Hansel and Gretel

based on the classic tale by the Brothers Grimm

directed by Joe Powers

adapted for the stage by Joe and Cody Powers

March 27, 28, 29, 2008 @ 7pm

March 29 and 30, 2008 @ 2pm

School Matinee: March 28 @ 10:00am

 

8th Annual Student-Written, Student-Directed One-Acts

June 9, 10, 11, 2008 @ 7pm,

Love’s Labour’s Lost

Twelfth Annual Summer Shakespeare

directed by Joe Powers

August 8 & 9, 2008 @ 7pm

August 9 & 10, 2008 @ 2pm,  

Students must be enrolled in current on-site Theatre School class sessions to audition for each play in the season. The only exception is the Summer Shakespeare.
