Lilly
loves school. She loves her pointy
pencils, her glittery movie-star glasses, and her three shiny quarters. But most of all, Lilly loves her brand new purple plastic
purse! With her oversized
imagination and crazy ideas, Lilly finds constant adventures with her friends
Chester, Wilson and her beloved teacher, Mr. Slinger.
Based upon the story lines of Lilly’s
Purple Plastic Purse; Chester’s Way; and
Julius, Baby of the World, OCT is excited to present the adventures of one
of Kevin Henkes’ most popular characters.
A favorite among teachers and students alike, Lilly is a confident
individual who does not hesitate to follow her own path and form her own
relationships. While she is not a
perfect mouse, Lilly quickly realizes when she makes a mistake and makes amends.
Through her, the play demonstrates strength in friendships; the
importance of standing up for what you believe in; and the notion that while
everyone makes mistakes, apologies are important.
OCT is excited to offer a Lilly
fashion show in the Keller Auditorium lobby preceding each performance.
Kids are encouraged to dress up as Lilly or their sassiest selves and
take a spin on the Keller catwalk!
Based on the book by Kevin
Henkes and adapted by Kevin
Kling, Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse is directed by Damon
Kupper. The play stars teen Briauna
Simmons-Yager as Lilly, Eli
Hirsch as Chester, Ryan Stathos as Wilson, and Jim Caputo as
Mr. Slinger. Set Design is
by Mark Haack, Lighting Design by Peter West, Costume Design by Margaret
Louise Chapman, Sound Design by Mark LaPierre, and
Props by R Dee.
