ODDFELLOWS PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS
AN EVENING OF STUDENT-DIRECTED PLAYS

Oddfellows Playhouse presents a showcase of six, one-act student-directed plays: Escape from Golf Camp by Rebecca Shaw and Andrew Wreggitt, Visitor from Forest Hills by Neil Simon, Broken Hearts by Kevin R. McLeod, 4 AM (Open All Night) by Bob Krakower, Anything for You by Cathy Celesia, and Changing Ways by student director Olivia Stahl. The plays range from the humorous to the dramatic and explore such adult subjects as love, marriage, sex, death, and lost opportunities. Each of the student directors, Genevieve Anderson-Krengel, Chelsea German, Cady Knoll, Becky Good, Carmen Mellilo, and Olivia Stahl, participated in an intensive directing seminar, taught by Jerry Winters, at Oddfellows in the fall.  The casts of the short, one-act plays, which range in size from two to four actors, were chosen by audition from the Teen Repertory Company.

“These student-directed plays are a great opportunity for teens who may have had substantial performance experience with various directors at Oddfellows to try their hands at directing their peers,” said Winters. “Each of these dedicated students has spent hours learning the nuts and bolts of the craft. The culmination of their work—presented in a single evening—is a testament to their commitment as they bravely investigate, with their peers, the difficult and amusing questions of life.”

The plays will be performed February 11 and 12, at 8 pm .  The performances take place at Oddfellows Playhouse, 128 Washington Street , in Middletown .  Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Support for Oddfellows’ season comes from the State Department of Education and the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism. For reservations or more information, please call (860) 347-6143.
