Riverside Youth Theatre Announces
Inland Empire Premiere of 13 the Musical

13 the Musical focuses on Manhattan-born Evan Goldman (Gabriel Martinez), who has moved from NYC to rustic Appleton, Indiana. There is a beautiful but devious girl, Lucy (Hayley Higgins), on hand to cause trouble. She is one of the stock characters in the school's in-crowd, led by quarterback Brett (Bobby Coovert) and head cheerleader Kendra (Hannah Wolgemuth). Evan needs to impress them as he tries desperate ways to sell his upcoming bar mitzvah party to these Midwestern kids. While courting this clique, Evan foolishly alienates his sincere neighbor Patrice (Courtney Ladd) and muscularly-degenerative Archie (Ryan Mauger). Jason Robert Brown -- whose previous musicals include Songs For a New World, Parade, and The Last Five Years -- can quickly shift musical gears from constructing rock blasts to power ballads to the exuberant curtain call, "Brand New You," that reiterates the youthful spirit and humor that has been on display throughout 13 the Musical.
