Valley
Youth Theatre Announces 2009-2010 Season Line up
PHOENIX,
AZ,
VYT’s Producing
Artistic Director, Bobb Cooper announced the lineup for the upcoming 2009-2010
Season, today.
First
up and running from September 11th
through September 27th , 2009, at the Herberger Theater
Center, is one of the world’s most celebrated musicals, J.M. Barrie’s
Broadway hit, Peter Pan. Audiences
will be enchanted by Tinker Bell, the children Wendy, Michael and John and all
the pirates and Indians, embellished with show-stopping songs like “Never
Never Land”, “I Won’t Grow Up” and “I’m Flying”.
October 16th through Novermber 1st,
2009 audiences will be live for a day, in the life of the loveable Charlie
Brown. Based on the Comic Strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Shulz, You’re
A Good Man, Charlie Brown, is seen as a day made up of little moments picked
from the days of Charlie Brown, from Valentine’s Day to the baseball season,
from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in the lives of his friends (both
human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from
bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening.
December’s show, running from December 4th
through 23rd, 2009, is a family holiday favorite that has become a
Valley tradition, A Winnie the Pooh
Christmas Tail, where the whole gang from the Hundred-Acre Wood helps Eeyore
find his lost tail!
In celebration of the new year, in January 2010,
VYT will offer something new when we produce the new musical, “13”,
at the Herberger Theater Center from January 29th through February 14th,
2010. When his parents get divorced and he’s forced to move from New York to a
small town in Indiana, Evan Goldman just wants to make friends and survive the
school year, but it’s easier said than done. You will love this new musical
with an unforgettable score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown.
“13” is a hilarious, high-energy
musical for all ages about discovering that cool is where you find it, and
sometimes where you least expect it!
March 19th through April 4th,
2010, VYT will journey into the magical world of The Hobbit, our non-musical of the season. Bilbo, one of the most
conservative of all Hobbits is asked to leave his large, roomy and very dry home
in the ground in order to set off as chief robber in an attempt to recover an
important treasure. It’s the last thing any sensitive Hobbit would want to do,
but great benefit eventually results, not only for Bilbo but for all of the
Hobbits who inhabit Middle Earth, and the hearts of those children and adults
who continue to enjoy this kind of magic.
It’s our last, but not least, production of the
2009-2010 season, Willy Wonka!
From May 7th through May 23rd, 2010, audiences will
enjoy this timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an
heir, when we bring it to life in this stage adaption of “Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory,” which features the songs from the classic family film.
VYT Producing Artistic Director, Bobb Cooper said
that a lot goes into determining a new season line up. “We have to find a good
mix of shows, some popular favorites, some new titles and some oldies but
goodies, so that we give our diverse audiences a good mix of shows to choose
from.” Cooper further said, “I
am very excited about our upcoming 21st season line-up, and I hope
the fans will be just as excited and come out to support the talented youth that
work so hard to prepare for roles in these popular Broadway productions.”
Auditions for the first two shows, Peter
Pan and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, will take place on Monday, June
8th and Tuesday, June 9th at 4:00 p.m., at Valley Youth

public for Peter Pan on July, 27th,
2009, and for You’re A Good Man, Charlie
