Experience the doo-wop fun as Tracy Turnblad, a pleasantly plump teen, turns
1962 Baltimore on its head when she gets to dance on the popular Corny Collins
show! Can she vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob
Link Larkin and integrate a TV network – all without denting her ‘do? With
show-stopping hits like “You Can’t Stop the Beat”, “Good Morning,
Baltimore”, and “Welcome to the Sixties”, your toes will be tapping the

the Explorer, Live!: Dora’s Pirate Adventure October
7 through 23, 2011 VYT * It’s
fun for all ages when we present everyone’s favorite Latina heroine –
Nickelodeon’s Dora! In the all new Dora’s
Pirate Adventure!, Dora, her best buddy Boots the Monkey, her cousin Diego
and the rest of their friends embark on an exciting trip to Treasure Island.
They will need your help to navigate over Music Mountain and silly Singing
Bridge and to confront the Pirate Piggies. Featuring fantastic musical numbers
with all of the same characters that preschoolers love, this is an adventure not

3 through 19, 2012 VYT* There's something special about Wilbur,
the new pig on the Arable farm, but only young daughter Fern can see it. That is
until Wilbur meets Charlotte - a just-as-special spider. When Wilbur's fate
starts looking bleak, clever web- spinning Charlotte devises a plan to save her
curly-tailed companion - with a little help from their opinionated barnyard
friends. 'Some Pig' indeed! Treat your family to this story of friendship,
hardship, and the passing on into time as Charlotte's Web reminds us to

Strawberry: The Musical

6 through 22, 2012 VYT* Get ready to meet the newest, most lovable
character to come from Broadway! Making its Arizona debut, Freckleface Strawberry: The Musical is based on the popular
children’s book by actress Julianne Moore and starred VYT alumna Kimiko Glenn
off-Broadway! Seven-year-old Strawberry hates her freckles.
She is teased by her classmates and feels like she doesn’t fit in
because of them. As she looks for a
way to remove them (scrub them with soap! cover them with a ski mask!) she
discovers that all people are different and ultimately learns to accept herself
for who she is, freckles and all. The

8 through 24, 2012 HTC** This totally hip musical favorite takes
the stage at the Herberger Theater Center in a funky and fun R&B twist to L.
Frank Baum’s well-loved tale The Wizard of Oz. Dazzling and fanciful,
this high-energy 70’s musical follows the adventures of Dorothy, Scarecrow,
Tinman and Lion as they hip hop down the Yellow Brick Road in search of a brain,
a heart, courage and most importantly, a way home. Enjoy fun and funky musical
numbers like “He’s The Wiz”, “No Bad News” and “Ease On Down The

Youth Theatre named by the Arizona Republic as one of the “Top Ten Places
to Become a Future Star” targets young people age 7 – 19 for
participation in, and attendance, at quality live theatre productions. VYT’s
mission is to inspire young people to be the best they can be, by providing them
with lifelong lessons through a wide range of performing arts opportunities. VYT
is an award-winning theatre and was recently selected as the Best Arizona
Children’s Performing Arts Theatre and received the 2008 Governor’s Arts
Award for Arts in Education. Alum include American Idol Jordin Sparks, Disney
Channel’s Chelsea Kane and currently on Dancing with the Stars; Golden Globe
Nominated movie actress Emma Stone who starred in “Easy A”, “Superbad”, “House
Bunny” and “The Rocker” and Broadway Star Max Crumm. VYT is supported in
part by the Arizona Commission on the Arts with funding from the State of
Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts. Partial funding also is
provided by the Phoenix Arts Commission through appropriations from the Phoenix
