YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE PRESENTS FARMAGEDDON AND THE UNDERCOVER CROP A WORLD PREMIERE ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF HEALTHY EATING
THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Young Artists Ensemble’s Hillcrest Players presents FARMAGEDDON AND THE UNDERCOVER CROP written and directed by Victoria Sayeg with performers age 7-14 at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 West Hillcrest Drive. Performances are Saturdays October 11 and 18, 2014 at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. Everyone loves a good crop circle - that is, everyone but world renowned peanut planter Farmer Carter. This fine farmer is devastated to learn his entire year's yield of peanuts has been damaged by someone - or something - just a day before the circus comes to town! Farmer Carter hires a detective to investigate, and is taken on a wild goose chase throughout the city, running into a time travelling clown, a wacky scientist, and many, many more - all in the style of film noir! Director and Writer Victoria Sayeg was behind last year’s world premiere, WANDA THE PSYCHIC WOMBAT, which was also presented by Hillcrest Players in the fall slot. She wrote this production after reading several scripts that left her feeling frustrated. A year earlier, she directed the production of FRANKENSTEIN SLEPT HERE, again for Hillcrest Players. Farmageddon and the Undercover Crop uses humor to shed light onto the benefits of healthy and organic eating and farming. The cast is excited to tell a story with a positive and powerful message through comedy, laughter, and silliness. Hillcrest Players gives young people an opportunity to flex their artistic muscles in a less demanding arena than a full-length production. The one-act plays provide young performers with a positive experience to increase self-esteem, self-awareness and self-discipline.
