YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE Presents

Disney’s ALADDIN, JR.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Young Artists Ensemble presents Disney’s Aladdin, Jr. directed by Suzanne Tobin with music direction by Zachary Spencer.  With music by Alan Menken, 
lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, the play is based on the 1992 Disney film Aladdin.  The book is adapted with additional lyrics by Jim Luigs and the music is adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle. 
            Performances are January 30 – February 15, 2015, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.  There will be four performances with the addition of actors with special needs on one additional weekend, February 20- 22, 2015. All performances are at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 West Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.  

            Magic, mayhem, and music follow young Aladdin everywhere after he discovers a rather gregarious genie in a lamp! Families can join Aladdin on his fantastical journey from street rat to prince as he encounters the strong-willed Jasmine, the evil Jafar, the hilarious parrot Iago, a Magic Carpet, and a slew of other madcap characters. Disney's Aladdin, Jr. is also a part of the award-winning Conejo Theatre For Everyone, teaming up YAE kids and performers with special needs for a unique theatrical experience.

Conejo Theatre for Everyone (CTFE) combines the efforts of the Conejo Recreation and Park District's Therapeutic Recreation Unit and Young Artists Ensemble to feature disabled and non-disabled performers in a unique theatre experience. Several roles will be double-cast with members of the Therapeutics Community.  Performers in these double-cast roles will act as actor-mentors assisting their counterparts to great performances.  This program received the Recreation and Community Services Award for Personal Development, Health/Wellness by the California Park and Recreation Society in 2005.  These performances are held on February 20, 21 and 22, 2015, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.  All tickets for these performances are only $10.

Tickets for the Conejo Theatre For Everyone performances, February 20 – 22, are only $10.

Young Artists Ensemble has received many accolades in the past 34 years including the Encore Statue Award from the City of Thousand Oaks for Excellence in the Arts, and Best Innovative Program 2011, Large District from the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts.  Most recently, it received top honors in the National Youth Arts Awards for the 2013 Teen Summer Musical 42^ND STREET and for its innovative Conejo Theatre for Everyone production of THE HOBBIT.
