YOUNG ARTISTS ENSEMBLE’S

HILLCREST PLAYERS Presents

POLLY WANTS A CURTAIN CALL

A WORLD PREMIERE BY VICTORIA SAYEG

THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Young Artists Ensemble’s Hillcrest Players presents the world premiere of POLLY WANTS A CURTAIN CALL,  the latest work by published playwright Victoria Sayeg, who will also direct the new play with performers age 7-14.   Performances are Saturdays, October 17 and 24, 2015 at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 Hillcrest Dr. in Thousand Oaks.

When crackers just don’t cut it, Polly the Parrot and a gang of pirates search for a different kind of treasure.   This crazy mixed up crew of pirates goes on an adventure to find themselves and to be themselves.  Hillcrest Players gives young people an opportunity to flex their artistic muscles in a less demanding arena than a full-length production.   The one-act plays provide young performers with a positive experience to increase self-esteem, self-awareness and self-discipline.

Victoria Sayeg has written and directed several productions for Young Artists Ensemble, after studying theatre at South Coast Repertory and Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory.  Recently, her play “Wanda the Psychic Wombat” was published by Dramatic Publishing, a publishing house for plays and musicals since 1885.

Young Artists Ensembles recently received 24 nominations and six wins for their 2014 Summer Teen Production of Jesus Christ Superstar.  Winners in the Tenth Annual National Youth Arts Awards included Outstanding Production: Jesus Christ Superstar, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical: Jordan M. Schneider as Jesus of NazarethOutstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical: Kyra Stevens as Mary Magdalene, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Lighting Design: Ken Milbrett and Outstanding Youth Orchestra.
