THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Young Artists Ensemble presents its Teen Summer Musical production of Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein directed and choreographed by Mayme Paul July 26 – August 4, 2019 at the Newbury Park High School Performing Arts Center. Young Frankenstein’s book is by Mel Brooks & Thomas Meehan with music & lyrics by Mel Brooks. Musical Direction is by Zachary Spencer and the young orchestrat is conducted by Susan Treworgy-Calkins. Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. - MTI.com. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIshows.com Director & Choreographer Mayme Paul has been fortunate to have a long career performing, teaching, directing and choreographing with over one hundred credits on her resume. She has performed on Broadway, on National Tours, and in Regional Theatre Productions, and has directed shows all over the United States. Last summer, she directed YAE’s Teen Summer Musical, IN THE HEIGHTS. Previously at YAE, she worked on productions of Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Cabaret and Chicago (for which she won Outstanding Director by The National Youth Arts Organization). In addition to musicals, she has choreographed commercials and the hit TV show Northern Exposure. She owned and operated a children’s theater company, Gypsy Productions. Young Artists Ensemble has received many accolades in the past 37 years including the Encore Statue Award from the City of Thousand Oaks for Excellence in the Arts, and Best Innovative Program 2011, Large District from the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts.
