How to Participate

Add Link: We will add a link to our lists of theatres, dance companies, music organizations, and other arts-related organizations. These lists help artists and those interested in the arts to find you.

Add Artist: We will also create a page for actors, directors, musicians, singers, dancers, writers, and other artists that will allow them to promote their upcoming performances, galleries, writings, etc. and can include a link to their own websites.

* Memberships & Award Programs *

Additional aspects of our site include participation in our membership program that allows members to post their press releases, audition and workshop listings, and calendar information, as well as our awards and reviews programs. In some cases, membership will not be required to submit a work for our new awards categories. Below is a breakdown on how to get involved:

THEATRE

School or Theatre Membership is required for a show to be considered for the awards, although performers age eighteen and younger in non-youth productions seen by our judges can also be considered regardless of membership.

MUSIC

Our Music category covers orchestra, band, choir, and a soloist/group who has a song or CD to submit. Either a group or individual membership is required. Organizational and School memberships are allowed to submit up to four performances a season for their annual membership ($80 for companies, $40 for school memberships) and can also submit press releases, workshop info, etc. Individual memberships are $15 and include one submission. In both cases, additional submissions can be made for $15 a piece. Depending on availability, one or more of our judges may be able to see the event live. Otherwise, submissions should be made on DVD or CD and mailed to the address below. You should fill out the submission form prior to mailing your media.

Award Categories include, but are not limited to, Outstanding Concert, Outstanding Orchestra, Outstanding Choir, Outstanding Band, Outstanding Group, Outstanding Soloist (Vocal/Instrumental), Outstanding Album, and Outstanding Song.

DANCE

Our Dance category is open to dance companies, schools, and individuals. Membership is required to participate in our awards program, with a membership fee of $80 for Dance Companies, $40 for Schools, and $15 for Individuals. Dance Company and School Memberships include the ability to submit press releases, workshop and audition info, etc. Dance Companies and schools can submit up to four shows a year, and Individuals can submit one performance a year. In all cases, additional submissions can be made for $15 a piece. Depending on availability, one or more of our judges may be able to see the event live. Otherwise, submissions should be made on DVD or CD and mailed to the address below. You should fill out the submission form prior to mailing your media.

Award Categories include, but are not limited to, Outstanding Dance Production, Choreography, Group Performance, Solo Performance, Costume Design, and Sound Design.

FILM

Our Film category is open to schools and individuals. Membership is NOT required to submit films for consideration. To submit a film for a review and award consideration, the entrance fee is $20 for a film 45 minutes or longer and $10 for a film less than 45 minutes. You can use the Submission Form link to submit the information about the film, and we will send you an online invoice. The submission form includes a field for a link if the film is located online, or you can mail in a DVD.

Award Categories include, but are not limited to, Outstanding Film, Direction, Performance, Screenplay, Editing, Lighting, and Sound.

WRITING

Our Writing category is open to Schools and Individuals. Membership is NOT required to submit works for consideration. Awards are considered in the following categories: Novel, Short Story, Journalism, Nonfiction, and Poetry. School Memberships are $25 and Individual Memberships are $20. The Member prices for submissions are $10 for all but the Novel or any work over 40,000 words, which is $25. Non-Member prices for submissions are $20 for all but the novel, which is $35. All submissions, excluding those for novels, give National Youth Arts a nonexclusive right to reprint the works for inclusion in collections of our award-winning and nominated works.

ART

This is a wide-ranging category that covers Painting, Photography, Drawing, Computer Art, and Fashion Design. This category is open to Schools and Individuals. Membership is NOT required to submit works for consideration. For the Fashion category, an original will need to be shipped to us if it is chosen as a finalist for our nominations. All other arts can be submitted digitally. School Memberships are $25 and Individual Memberships are $20. The Member prices for each submission is $10, and the Non-Member price is $20.
